LTCC Exam
First-year PhD students in Mathematics and Statistics from the consortium members (Brunel, City, Imperial Statistics, Kent, King’s, LSE, QMUL, Royal Holloway and UCL) are expected to attend four LTCC units and answer the examination questions on these four units. If you are unsure, check how many units you are required to take with your supervisor. Exceptions to the rule should be confirmed by the postgraduate tutor in the student’s department and notified to the LTCC administrator.
Students from other institutions or academic disciplines may take the examination if their departments wish them to do so.

Format
Examinations are in the form of a ‘take-home’ paper. Students are expected to spend no more than 3-4 hours on each unit, and they should be aware that very long answers are unlikely to find favour with the examiners.
Students will be asked to produce one PDF file for each unit attempted, either by conversion from LaTeX, or by scanning a handwritten document. These files should be emailed to the LTCC administrator. Alternatively, answers (in the form specified) may be mailed or delivered in person to the Department of Mathematics at UCL, to arrive by the deadline. Late submissions will be reviewed individually.
Advanced Course Assessments
In line with EPSRC guidelines, there are now 'light touch' assessments for every module, both basic and advanced. Assessments for advanced courses will take place at the end of each module. The format is determined by individual lecturers.
