LTCC Intensive Course. Möbius Inversions and Persistent Homology. 27 and 28 March 2023.

The LTCC is offering an Intensive Course on Möbius Inversions and Persistent Homology by Amit Patel, Leverhulme Visiting Professor, Queen Mary University London, Colorado State University on 27 and 28 March 2023.

COURSE SUMMARY:
The persistence diagram is an algebraic combinatorial object associated to a filtration of a space. It has become a popular tool in analyzing the shape of data and intensively studied over the last 20 years. There are several ways of defining it, but the definition using the classical Möbius inversion formula (for posets) offers the most flexibility for generalizations. This course will cover the state-of-the-art on persistence diagrams as Möbius inversions as well as offer directions and questions for further research.

PREREQUISITES:
Some exposure to algebra, category theory and algebraic topology will be helpful.

Start: Monday 27 March 2023 from 1pm to 5pm
Finish: Tuesday 28 March 2023 from 9am to 1pm

Venue: UCL, Department of Mathematics, Room 505, 5th Floor,
25 Gordon Street, London WC1H 0AY

Participants are asked to register by emailing: office@ltcc.ac.uk
