“Quantum Gravity – are we there yet?” by Professor Shahn Majid of Queen Mary University of London

Published:

Please join us for this year's LTCC Christmas Lecture “Quantum Gravity – are we there yet?”, which will take place on Monday 9 December at 6pm.

We are delighted to have Professor Shahn Majid of Queen Mary University of London as our speaker. A reception and refreshments will follow the lecture.

Venue: Room 505, Department of Mathematics, UCL, 25 Gordon Street, London. WC1H 0AY

Date/Time: Monday 9 December, 6pm – 8.30pm

Abstract:

The search for a unified theory of quantum gravity suggests the need for a new “quantum” formulation of geometry where spacetime coordinates x, y, z, t  need not commute. I’ll explain why quantum gravity suggests this, what this new  geometry looks like and how it could be applied in many areas of pure and applied mathematics as well as to toy models of quantum gravity.

We look forward to seeing you there.
