What we offer
The Centre offers courses in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
Courses run in two formats:
- Extensive modules which normally take place at De Morgan House, Russell Square, London
- Intensive courses which run over a period of 24 hours (usualy 1pm-5pm on Day 1 and 9am-1pm on Day 2)
The Extensive modules are divided into basic and advanced courses:
- Basic courses are aimed at students in the first year of Ph.D. studies and are generally compulsory for students within the LTCC consortium (UCL, QMUL, Imperial, King's College, LSE, City, Kent, Brunel, Royal Holloway and The Open University).
- Advanced courses tend to be more specialised and are not compulsory, although some advanced courses do continue on from basic courses. Advanced courses are designed for students in the second year and above, but should be accessible to first year students with suitable background knowledge of the subject.

Assessment
There are 'light' assessments for every basic and advanced module. Basic exams take place in the Spring term (usually in April). Assessments for advanced courses take place at the end of each module. First year students will be expected to take four assessments, although exceptions will apply in individual cases. Please check with your supervisors to confirm how many exams you should be taking.
